Tips for using enamel cookware

Enameled cookware that is damaged on the inside should not be used for cooking for several important reasons:

  1. Health risk: Damaged enamel can release metal or ceramic particles into the food being cooked in the pot. These particles can be harmful to health, especially if ingested in large quantities.

  2. Change in taste and smell: Damaged enamel can affect the taste and smell of prepared food. Metal particles or damage can cause unwanted changes in the food you are preparing.

  3. Hygiene: Cracks, scratches, and enamel damage are difficult to clean, which can lead to the accumulation of bacteria and microbes. This can compromise the hygiene of the cookware and the food being prepared in it.

  4. Increased corrosion: Damaged enamel can lead to increased corrosion of the cookware, which can eventually cause further damage and unsuitability for use.

If you notice any damage or cracks on the inside of the enamel cookware, we recommend that you replace it or stop using it for cooking to ensure the safety and quality of the prepared food.

When using enamel cookware, there are a few key tips that can help you keep the cookware in good condition and ensure safe and effective use:

  1. Avoid impacts: Enameled cookware is sensitive to strong impacts and scratches, so avoid rough handling or using sharp utensils that could damage the enamel coating.

  2. Hand wash: Although many enameled cookware items are dishwasher safe, hand washing is recommended to maintain shine and prevent potential damage during washing.

  3. Avoid high temperatures: The cookware should not be exposed to extreme temperatures. Avoid sudden changes in temperature, such as cold water on a hot surface, as this can cause the enamel to crack.

  4. Use wooden or plastic utensils: To prevent scratches and damage to the enamel surface, use wooden, silicone, or plastic utensils.

  5. Do not leave empty on a hot surface: Avoid leaving empty enamel cookware on a hot surface, as this may cause damage.

  6. Prevent the use of abrasive cleaners: Do not use abrasive cleaners containing coarse particles or metal pads, as they can damage the enamel surface.

  7. Do not use in the microwave: Enameled cookware is usually not suitable for use in the microwave, so check the manufacturer's instructions and avoid using it in this case.

  8. Keep objects with sharp edges away: Prevent rubbing enamel cookware against objects with sharp edges or other hard surfaces, which can cause abrasions or scratches.

By respecting these tips, you can extend the life of your enamel cookware and maintain its attractiveness and functionality.
